Contemporary art and installations

About

Colin Clydesdale is a multi-disciplinary contemporary artist who works in paint, installation, and music. He is known for his dark and abstract works that explore themes of loss, trauma, and the human condition.

Clydesdale was born in Port Glasgow in the 1950s. He trained as an engineer in the armed forces before running his own engineering company and then later launching his own vinyl record label Vinylselection in 2017. The label released music by a number of contemporary artists, including Roberto Fabbriciani, Professor Steven Davismoon and Jan Kopinski. The work of the label was featured in the Spring 2017 issue of The Drouth – https://research.edgehill.ac.uk/en/publications/conjuring-spectral-sonic-traces-from-absent-places-2

Colin Clydesdale retired from working in industry and focused on art full-time. He has since exhibited his work in galleries and museums around the UK, including the NEC fine arts show and Calvie Gallery.

Clydesdale’s work is often described as dark and disturbing. He uses bold colours and shapes to create images that are both visually arresting and emotionally unsettling. His work often deals with themes of loss, trauma, and the human condition.

Clydesdale’s work has been praised for its originality and power. He is currently working on a new series of paintings that explore the theme of engineering concepts from biblical events. He is also planning to exhibit in the East Midlands, UK, in the near future.
